Caleb-1Caleb Boer’s journey with Goodwill has been nothing short of inspiring. Referred to Goodwill by Community Mental Health, Caleb embarked on a path of skill building that illuminated his determination and kindness. Performing packaging and assembly work for area manufacturers, Caleb’s dedication shone through every task.

While already working part-time at MillerKnoll, Caleb sought to further enhance his skills. His positivity and tenacity earned him a reputation as someone who never shies away from hard work.

When the Skill Building program concluded in 2023, Caleb didn’t pause; he pivoted. Referred again to Goodwill by Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS), Caleb aimed for competitive employment and full-time work. MRS recognized his potential and sought Goodwill’s collaboration under its Supported Employment program to empower Caleb’s journey.

Securing a part-time dishwashing position at the Pizza Ranch in Holland, Caleb expanded his horizons. Balancing this new role with his existing job, Caleb found increased hours and fulfillment. Importantly, this balance allowed him to pursue his passions in Special Olympics and Compassionate Heart Ministries activities. Despite communication challenges, Caleb's spirit remained unwavering. With the support of a Goodwill Job Coach Meg Barry and Job Placement Supervisor Julie Joppie, he navigated his duties with grace. The Pizza Ranch team embraced Caleb's positivity, recognizing his contributions and infectious smile.

Today, Caleb stands as a beacon of resilience and determination. Pizza Ranch is eager to expand his responsibilities, a testament to his outstanding performance. Career Coach Meg Barry echoes the sentiment, affirming Caleb's readiness for new challenges. “Caleb is an extremely hard worker, and he is ready to take on new responsibilities,” she said.

Way to go, Caleb!
