Goodwill Industries awarded three-year CARF accreditation

MUSKEGON, MI —  Goodwill Industries of West Michigan, Inc. (GIWM) recently received its 15th consecutive, three-year accreditation from CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) International. The award includes both Goodwill service-delivery locations — its Corporate Headquarters in Muskegon, as well as the Goodwill Employment & Training Center in Holland.

“This rigorous, two-day, on-site peer review process by outside surveyors ensures that the delivery of our programs and services maintain the highest quality, and are measurable and accountable,” said Goodwill President and CEO Jeanette Hoyer. “We are committed to excellence and continuous improvement.”

The accreditation includes these internationally recognized categories: Community Employment Services: Job Development, Community Employment Services: Employment Supports, Organizational Employment Services, and Governance Standards Applied.

“This achievement is an indication of your dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of persons served,” said CARF President and CEO Brian Boon. “Your organization should take pride in achieving this high level of accreditation.”

CARF is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human service organizations. Its mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services. CARF currently accredits more than 7,200 service providers at more than 26,000 locations on five continents.

The mission of Goodwill Industries of West Michigan is to provide work opportunities, skill development, and family strengthening resources, in all communities it serves. In 2017, Goodwill provided employment and training services to 4,919 people in West Michigan, and placed 1,328 people into competitive jobs in the community.
