Whitehall Goodwill store to celebrate renovation

PRESS RELEASE

MUSKEGON, MI — Goodwill Industries of West Michigan is planning a Grand Re-Opening Celebration at its Whitehall store on Friday, December 7 at 9:00 a.m. Festivities include a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony, giveaways, prize drawings, and refreshments.

Goodwill is celebrating the completion of the store’s extensive renovation project that began in June.

The project included a significant expansion managed by property owner WinBerg Construction, with an additional 3,000 square feet added onto its former 6,000-square-foot floor plan.

“We wanted to do something special for our Whitehall shoppers and donors for all their support,” said Retail Director James Cherney. “They’ve been so patient and understanding through the sometimes messy construction process. Fortunately, we were able to keep the store open the whole time with the exception of a three-day closure for painting.”

Located at 3353 Underwood Drive, enhancements to the store include an overall improved store layout, new checkout counters, an automated entryway, the addition of clerestory windows, as well as fresh paint and floor treatment. The store’s donation drive-thru has been reconfigured and moved from the east side of the building to the west, and more parking spaces have been be added.

“The White Lake community has always been extremely supportive of the Whitehall store and we sincerely thank them,” said President and CEO Jeanette Hoyer. “Our retail stores generate the revenue needed to support our mission of helping people overcome barriers to employment through job training programs and other wraparound support services. We couldn’t do what we do without the generous outpouring of donations and loyal store patronage. Thank you for shopping for a great cause.”

The original Goodwill Whitehall store location opened for business in 1999 within the Plumb’s Plaza. In 2004, Goodwill built the current freestanding building.
