PRESS RELEASE
HOLLAND —Goodwill Industries of West Michigan (GIWM) will be opening a new store and donation center at 1024 Washington Avenue in Holland later this month. Concurrently, the nearby Goodwill store at 1180 Washington will be closing its doors. “It is more of a relocation,” said Director of Retail Operations Jim Cherney. “We’ve outgrown our current location and wanted to expand our sales floor and improve our donation drive-thru experience for our customers.” Goodwill operates a second Holland retail store at 393 E. Lakewood Blvd. which is not affected and will remain open.“We will continue to offer two convenient locations in Holland to serve the community,” said District Manager Terri Edwards. “We also have a store in nearby Zeeland.”
The new 8,400 square-foot store construction is a build-to-suit arrangement with Shull Investment Properties, assisted by Jeffrey Parker Architects, with construction executed by minority-owned Odanah Construction.
The new store will be brighter and more open with new lighting, flooring, a glass vestibule, and more. “We are thrilled to be opening a beautiful new store in Holland. This community has always been so generous and supportive of our mission,” Cherney said. “The large covered donation drive-thru at the front of the store is a unique feature we think our donors will appreciate,” Cherney said.
Opening date is dependent on pending inspections and occupancy date, but a late April debut is expected. Hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Each year we celebrate community members who overcame adversity through the power of work, and the employers who supported them.
