Doug

“I like Goodwill because I like to work.”

Doug is enrolled in Goodwill's Work Activity Program where he is fully engaged in a variety of work, skill-building, and community activities. Doug works in Goodwill's Industrial Services Center performing support manufacturing for local companies; tasks such as sorting, packaging, and sub-assembly. He earns a weekly paycheck based on his individual productivity.

Additionally, Doug works for Goodwill's Janitorial Services and is part of a weekly work crew for contracted floor care services for a number of local businesses. Doug is a very conscientious worker and likes to work hard. He takes great pride in doing a good job and earning a paycheck.

Through the Work Activity Program, Doug is also involved in many community volunteer activities of his choice such as the Alliance for the Great Lakes' Adopt-a-Beach Program, and food pantry stocking for organizations such as Love, Inc. and Second Harvest. He also finds time to expand his computer skills in Goodwill's computer lab. Doug was referred to the Work Activity Program through Community Mental Health Services of Muskegon County.

For fun, Doug enjoys roller skating, eating out, going to the movies, making model trucks, listening to country music, attending church, dancing, photography, and spending time with his family. He lives in an adult foster care home in Muskegon.
