Whitehall Goodwill store expansion and renovation underway

WHITEHALL — Goodwill Industries of West Michigan’s Whitehall store renovation project began this week. The plan includes a nearly 3,000-square-foot expansion by property owner WinBerg Construction.

Located at 3353 Underwood Drive, improvements include the addition of skylights and clerestory windows, new checkout counters and improved store layout, an automated entryway, as well as fresh paint and floor treatment. The store’s donation drive-thru will be completely reconfigured and moved from the east side of the building to the west, and more parking spaces will be added.

“The Whitehall community has always been so supportive of our store and mission,” said Goodwill Retail Director James Cherney. “We are excited to provide our customers with an expanded sales floor, the addition of lots of natural light, and an improved donation experience.”

The store and donation center will remain open during construction with an estimated completion date of mid-October.

The original Goodwill Whitehall store location opened for business in 1999 within the Plumb’s Plaza.  In 2004, Goodwill built the current freestanding building.
