Transitional Housing and Employment

Transitional Housing
Transitional Housing and Employment Services Program

Focusing on helping homeless families make a successful transition into steady employment and stable housing, this program extends beyond traditional short-term emergency shelter. In addition to housing, program participants receive employability skills training, job search and placement assistance, financial literacy training, and other supports as needed in order to achieve self-sufficiency.

Muskegon Area Program
Utilizing two homes Goodwill owns adjacent to its headquarters in Muskegon, the program provides housing for up to six Muskegon-area homeless families per year (one family per house at a time). The Muskegon program is funded in part by the United Way of the Lakeshore, the Community Foundation for Muskegon County and the Paul C. Johnson Foundation.

Manistee Area Program
With support from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), Goodwill also operates a Transitional Housing and Employment program in Manistee serving both families and individuals who are homeless.

Participants are selected by agency referral only.

Persons or organizations wishing to donate new mattresses, furniture, or appliances to the program, please call (231) 722-7871.
