Return-to-Work Program

Return-to-Work Program
This program facilitates the return of injured workers to the workforce as soon as it is medically appropriate. Goodwill assists the employee who has sustained an injury or illness by providing temporary alternate or light-duty work. Gradual increases in length or difficulty of the work builds strength and tolerance levels until the worker can return to his/her regular employment. The program also provides employees with a means of staying productive while recuperating.
Statistics indicate that the longer an employee is unable to work, the more difficult it becomes for him/her to return to full-duty employment. Generally, injured workers that engage in a return-to-work program are likely to recover more quickly and less likely to become treatment dependent.
Goodwill works with each individual to develop a transitional plan for re-entering the workforce. The length of the program is individually determined.
Participants are generally referred to the program by their employer or insurance company.
