Employability Assessment

Employability
Employability Assessment

The purpose of this program is to determine a person's job readiness. The focus is on assessment, not training.

Serving persons with disabilities, program participants are referred by their Community Mental Health Services case manager. The program was developed to provide assistance to the Michigan Department of Career Development in determining when a participant is ready and capable of community-based employment.

Led by a Goodwill job coach, the one-week program meets for a total of 24 hours; 18 of which are community-based and six that are classroom-base. Utilizing the Goodwill Life Skills curriculum, the specific areas addressed include job skills analysis, resume development, paid work experience, career exploration, and employer introduction.

If the participant is deemed ready for community-based employment, he/she will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program.
