NewsRoomPress Releases June 7, 2004 Big and bright, an expanded selection of merchandise, deep-discounted prices, friendly service, and a convenient donation drive-thru — that’s what you can expect from Goodwill’s newest store to open on Ellis Road in Norton Shores. Positioned next to the new Hage’s, just beyond Lakeshore Marketplace, the Grand Opening Celebration for the 10,000-square-foot store is set for Saturday, June 26. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 8:45 a.m. and doors open at 9:00 a.m. Grand Opening Celebration festivities include a drawing for prizes, free giveaways, and — as part of a Goodwill grand opening tradition — a hidden one hundred dollar bill to be found by one lucky shopper! A live radio remote by WSHZ Star 108 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. will be hosted by well-known local radio personality, Britta. The new store will be brimming with quality merchandise, including discounted new goods donated or acquired from regular, for-profit retailers. Merchandise will be re-stocked throughout the day. “We are thrilled to be a part of the thriving Lakes Mall retail corridor,” said Goodwill Retail Director James Cherney. “The new store also offers a more convenient donation location for residents and businesses in the Norton Shores, Fruitport, and Spring Lake area.” “The new store has created new jobs as well as new opportunities for persons with disabilities,” added District Manager Marlene Prowant. The brand-new building was developed by Main Street Development of Holland as a built-to-suit design for Goodwill as sole tenants. Construction is by Triangle of Grand Rapids. Boasting an attractive brick design with awnings, the store is light and airy with high ceilings and skylights. A donation drive-thru with a brick portico is located on the east side of the building. Changing rooms, customer restrooms, a truck dock, and an in-store processing room are also featured. The Norton Shores store opening is the latest accomplishment in a series of planned expansions and improvements for Goodwill stores of West Michigan. “It’s a new generation of Goodwill stores responding to the needs and wants of our generous shoppers and donors,” Cherney said. “People who haven’t shopped or donated at a Goodwill lately are pleasantly surprised when they experience the advancements we've made.” The mission of Goodwill Industries of West Michigan is to provide work opportunities and skill development for people with barriers to employment. Many of the work opportunities and revenues generated to support Goodwill’s employment and training services are made possible through the community’s support of material donations and the sale of these goods through its network of stores throughout West Michigan. Store Hours: Mon.– Sat.: 9:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. and Sun.: 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Phone: (231) 798-2817 — END —
