NewsRoomPress Releases April 2, 2004 The Girl Scouts “Bag it Up” donation drive for Goodwill last spring was so successful, that the troops are raring to do it again, and have even extended their hours of collection. The Girl Scouts of Michigan Pine and Dunes Council are helping Goodwill Industries of West Michigan collect gently used clothing and other household items at collection sites throughout the area on Saturday, April 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Troops from Muskegon, Oceana, and Newaygo counties are participating in the program. To show its appreciation, Goodwill promised the Girl Scouts that for every 15 bags of donations collected, troops will receive a “Community Service Voucher” redeemable for five items of clothing at one of its stores. The more they collect, the more vouchers they will earn. Girls in each troop get to decide who they would like to give the vouchers to — perhaps a needy family in their own troop or school, or to a shelter or church that serves those in need. “We are excited about the opportunity to serve our community in two ways: one, supporting Goodwill’s mission of helping people find jobs, and two, earning vouchers that can help needy people in each troop’s own community,” said Girl Scout Program Director Mindy Schertenlieb. The community may participate by donating to a troop in their area, or bringing their donations to a Girl Scout collection site on April 24 between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Collection sites include:
