Community Foundation supports Goodwill's homeless program

Goodwill Industries of West Michigan received a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation for Muskegon County to support Goodwill's Transitional Housing and Employment Services Program for homeless families in Muskegon.

Utilizing two homes Goodwill owns adjacent to its headquarter campus on Apple Avenue, Goodwill Industries provides housing opportunities for homeless families, with a focus on assisting these families in making a successful transition into steady employment and stable housing. Since the program's inception in November 2005, the program has assisted 11 families in leading more independent lives.

"We thank the Community Foundation for Muskegon County for their generous support of this critical program," said Goodwill President and CEO Richard Carlson.

The Community Foundation for Muskegon County was created in 1961 to improve the quality of life for Muskegon County residents. As a publicly supported community endowment, the foundation receives and manages contributions from thousands of community citizens and organizations who are committed to the future of Muskegon County.

The mission of Goodwill Industries of West Michigan, Inc. is to provide work opportunities and skill development for people with barriers to employment.
