Two new Goodwill stores under construction
01/30/08
Muskegon, MI- Two new Goodwill stores with donation centers are underway in the Muskegon area - one in Roosevelt Park and the other in North Muskegon.
Located in the "Park Place" plaza (formerly Park Row Mall) at 950 West Norton Avenue, the Roosevelt Park store is a build-to-suit lease agreement with Redstone Development of Spring Lake, coordinated by President Ross Pope.
The 7,500-square-foot store is scheduled to open sometime in late March / early April. Since the new location will include a convenient donation "drive-thru," Goodwill's nearby stand-alone donation site at 2818 Henry Street (at Broadway, in the former El Caminos restaurant) will close shortly before the new store opens.
Other tenants of the recently renovated plaza include Goodwill Industries' Workforce Development Center, GoodTemps, Pints & Quarts, C.F. Prime, Paris Studios, Ross Medical, Curves, Paris Studios, and a new Snap Fitness.
The North Muskegon location is at 1149 Whitehall Road and is a build-to-suit lease arrangement with Winberg Construction of Montague, headed up by President Brad VanBergen. Goodwill Industries officials have been seeking a new North Muskegon location since the closure of its stand-alone donation center at Plumb's two years ago. Construction on the new, free-standing store began in December 2007, with a grand opening tentatively scheduled for early June.
"Our stores are strategically positioned to offer the most convenient locations for our shoppers and donors," said Goodwill Retail Director James Cherney. "It's taken us longer than anticipated to find just the right fit. We're excited about both new locations."
